Asian Supply Base Emphasises On Safety Culture To its Oil and Gas Operators

“We must constantly strive to achieve Zero injuries and illnesses. Our efforts must be focused on prevention of occupational injury and illness,” he said at the presentation of certificates of appreciation to members of Supply Base HSE Alliance (SBHA) today.


“Users in our base including employees and contractors are accountable for performing their daily activities in a manner consistent with our HSE policy.

We will meet or exceed compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. We will integrate our (HSE) practices, standards and goals into our global business plans in a manner that assures consistent and effective implementation of our (HSE) policy.

“The commitment in ensuring HSE being practised and prioritised is equally shared among base users in ASB. In view of its importance, ASB and base users shares a common understanding, concerns and commitment to generate and create an awareness to embed and inculcate safety culture and practice in our base,” he said.

The alliance members comprises ASB, PETRONAS Carigali, Sabah Shell, Murphy, Schlumberger, HALLIBURTON, Samudera Timur Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Mud & Chemicals (2MC), Baker Hughes, International Shipcare, Innatech, MI Swaco, PETRONAS Mitco, FMC.

“Over the past years, SBHA has been the backbone to ASB of being key enablers to initiate, drive and commit towards realising the objectives of HSE. ASB’s management has highly regarded and acknowledged SBHA's concerted effort and continuous commitment,” Harris said.

ASB’s performance over the years has improved tremendously with the increased number of international major oil and gas companies registered and operating in the base.
